CALL FOR PUBLICTION

Latin American Practical Theology Journal, vol. 5, no. 2, 2026

Theological work as a basic pastoral practice in Latin America

The Teología Práctica Latinoamericana Journal invites researchers, professors, advanced students, pastoral agents, and individuals involved in faith communities and faith-based organizations to submit scholarly articles for its next issue, dedicated to the theme: “Theological Work from the Perspective of Grassroots Pastoral Practice in Latin America.” This issue seeks to deepen and continue the reflection on Latin American practical theology, focusing on the theological work that emerges from the concrete life of faith communities, from the formation processes in theological institutions, and from the daily commitment of ecclesial groups and faith-based organizations. The aim is to show that theological work is not only theoretical academic production, but also a living practice shaped by communal discernment, situated pastoral action, and critical dialogue with the social, cultural, and political contexts of our region.

We are particularly interested in receiving papers that analyze, systematize, or problematize grassroots pastoral experiences; formation processes in seminaries, faculties, and centers of theological training; community accompaniment initiatives; practices of incarnate spirituality; and proposals that critically articulate faith and social transformation. We value contributions that integrate theoretical and practical reflection, case studies, participatory methodologies, interdisciplinary approaches, specific pastoral experiences, and conceptual developments arising from Latin American pastoral experience.

Articles must be original and unpublished, written in Spanish, and demonstrate academic rigor, methodological clarity, and ethical responsibility. The deadline for manuscript submissions is May 15, 2026. All texts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Detailed guidelines for submission are available on the journal's website: https://revistas.ubl.ac.cr/index.php/tpl.

With this call for papers, we aim to further strengthen critical, contextual, and engaged theological work that arises from grassroots pastoral practice and engages with the current challenges of Latin America and the Caribbean, recognizing the diversity of individuals, territories, and experiences that shape our faith communities.
