Abstract

This article addresses the relevance and pertinence of insurgent masculinities as an alternative to the predominant hegemonic models of masculinity. The text analyzes different critical studies on men and religion, considering above all the role of religion and its social practices in the construction of oppressive or alternative masculinities. This analysis focuses on Christianity, particularly on the experiences of masculinities in evangelical Christian communities. The objective is to have pastoral tools that, from feminist theological perspectives and liberating pedagogies, energize the consciousness of religious men in evangelical Christian contexts, so that they commit to the construction of more just and equitable societies and free from all forms of discrimination and violence.
