Artificers on the way
Practical feminist theologians
Abstract
The Latin American Biblical University (UBL) has become a reference space for debate, playing a fundamental role in the development of women’s studies, gender theory, masculinities and feminist biblical hermeneutics in Latin America. Throughout its history, the UBL has been a space for critical, dialogic and praxeological reflection to address these issues from a theological perspective framed in social criticism. This has led to Practical Theology with a gender perspective becoming a recognized and respected field of study in Theological Academia.
UBL professors have networked and collaborated with other institutions and organizations to strengthen Practical Theology with a gender perspective in Latin America. Through the decades, generations of professors have maintained a firm commitment to the promotion of social justice and gender equality, which has been a fundamental driving force for the development of Practical Theology with a gender perspective.
In this article we will review some articles highlighting the epistemological foundations and methodologies that reflect those writings. However, these documents were not written in a vacuum or starting from scratch, but are part of a whole history of commitment, development, research and thought maturity of the category of gender in practical theology at the Latin American Biblical University (UBL). Because of this, we started with historical data that dates back several decades to show that “the path is made by walking”.
