La columna rota: cuando los cuerpos duelen: el arte y lo sagrado en la obra de Frida Kahlo
Abstract
“Joyful I await my passing…and I hope never to return…Frida”. The words, brush strokes, colors and convulsive actions of Frida Kahlo invade us with a certain stupor. There are no precise adjective that can stand alone as we approach her work, it is insufficient to say: beautiful, brilliant, overwhelming. There is always the need to say something more, about our won story, our own sensation of pain, despair, pleasure and suffering. But how was this woman able to turn her wounded body into the protagonist of her painting? How was she able to display her offenses so precisely? What profound convictions helped her to resist? In this article we seek to explore, from a theological perspective the answers to these questions and provoke a reflection that goes beyond our religious convictions, artistic tastes or political convictions, convened by a profound and inescapable motive common to all humans: faith and pain.
