Theories, Theologies, Gender and Ideologies
Abstract
This article is divided into three sections: (1) I trace the origin map of the so-called “gender ideology” in terms of the achievements of feminist movements, as reflected in documents from the United Nations and the Holy See, and responses from other Christian traditions; (2) I reclaim gender as a tool for analysis and discuss its application as gender justice; (3) I discuss how gender analysis is employed by Latin American feminist theologies. The partisan political parody of so-called “gender ideology” is analyzed, while attempting to clarify origins, concepts, and meanings.
