Humanity and revelation in Psalm 104
Sacred and profane as analogous dimensions of Creation
Abstract
This article focuses on the study of the Human-Creation relationship present in Psalm 104. In the Christian theological context, understanding the human being as the core of everything relegates the cosmos to the margins. However, in texts such as the one analysed here, the universe is understood as a complex system in which men and women are part of that framework. The resulting reflection involves understanding the world, not just the human being, as the center of “revelation” and this forces us to question the “sacred”-“profane” dichotomies, “since ‘chaos’ is, in reality, a ‘divine' creation’.”
