La Teología de la liberación hoy
Abstract
Faced with the question of the past and present of liberation theology, the author evaluates what is definitive in this movement, the elements with which it has fertilized the Church and theology and how it can and should be completed in new contexts. Based on the central works of the first years of TL, he highlights history - particularly the reality of those who suffer - as a place of revelation and liberation as a permanent utopia. He affirms the validity of TL in the face of the reality of suffering and the preferential option of God for the poor, which assumes a Christological character. In his critical assessment, the author highlights an excessive initial optimism and the need to address personal liberation along with structural. For the author, liberation theology should not only renew itself but also take up again the initial fire that propelled it.
