Abstract
Thomas Thangaraj es una persona multilingüe y multicultural.
Nacido en la India en un pueblo convertido del hinduismo al anglicanismo, tuvo contacto íntimo con el hinduismo, la religión dominante del país, además del Islam, el Budhismo y otras religiones históricas, grandes y pequeñas. Entrenado en teología, participó por años en tres grupos de diálogo: uno, formado por cristianos, hindúes e islámicos, auspiciado por el seminario donde fue profesor; otro, un grupo de teólogos cristianos y filósofos hindúes; y el tercero, un grupo de personas de diferentes tradiciones religiosas o no religiosas, para estudiar las enseñanzas de Mahatma Gandhi. Actualmente, es profesor de Cristiandad Mundial en la Escuela de Teología Candler de la Universidad Emory en Atlanta, Georgia, Estados Unidos. Su formación cultural y teológica le aporta una perspectiva y expe- riencia profunda del diálogo religioso.
