Un concilio para el siglo XXI
Abstract
“…los males que hoy le causan (a la Iglesia) desolación, las herejías y las perversiones de la vida religiosa de la entera Cristiandad, proceden del hecho de haber abandonado la celebración de concilios”.
Esto escribía el monje Udalrico con motivo de la celebración del Concilio de Basilea (1431-1449). Un siglo después, era el teólogo y jurista español Francisco de Vitoria, “padre del derecho de gentes”, quien se expresaba en términos similares: “Desde que los papas comenzaron a temer a los concilios, la Iglesia está sin concilio, y así seguirá para desgracia y ruina de la religión”.
