ETHICAL POLICIES

These policies involved are the ethical commitment of all the parties that participate in the production and management of the magazine Vida y Pensamiento, including the Editorial Committee, the people evaluated and the authors. The Editorial's policies are governed by the values ??of respect, academic quality, integrity and transparency.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARTICIPATING PEOPLE

Authors: The manuscripts they submit must be completely original and unpublished research that has not been sent simultaneously to other journals. They will describe in detail the methods used in the development of the research so that these can be corroborated by interested readers. They must disclose the sources of information on which they were based to carry out the research, in addition to adequately indicating the textual citations or those that belong to other authors. They must submit their manuscripts in the requested format, with excellent presentation and writing.

Editors: They must supervise that the articles are reviewed by suitable peers for the process, so that anomalous situations can be detected regarding ethical provisions and plagiarism. They must ensure that the process of receiving, reviewing, ruling and publishing the postulated articles are carried out in a transparent, fair and impartial manner. They will respect the author's freedom of thought and will ensure that a digital reprint of their article is delivered to him or her, once it is publicized.

Reviewers: The review of the articles will be by expert and specialized peers in related areas. These people must maintain absolute confidentiality throughout the evaluation process. The evaluation must be carried out impartially and objectively, following the criteria provided by the Editorial. The evaluations will be within the stipulated time and if any conflict of interest arises, it must be communicated to the Editorial, as well as in case of doubt about the originality and the work evaluated. The final report will be delivered according to the form provided by the Editorial.

PEER EVALUATION POLICIES

Each article received by the Editorial Committee will undergo a peer review process to define its suitability for publication. Once the article is received, the author is notified that he will go through a review process using the “double blind” system, without either party being aware of the other's data. The evaluators present their criteria as established in the evaluation sheet sent by the Editorial Committee. Reviewers will have two weeks to complete the evaluation.

After the review, each reviewer will give one of the following failures:

  • Can be published without modification
  • Can be published with modifications
  • Publishing is not recommended

If there are discrepancies in criteria, the internal editorial committee decides if the artical can be published. In addition, the committee will notify the author of the status of the article.

  1. The evaluator who identifies or has suspected plagiarism, must submit a report to the Editorial Committee with the respective evidences.
  2. Once plagiarism has been detected, the Editorial Committee will attend to the case according to severity, requesting changes or rejecting the article.
