• Hermenéuticas bíblicas de liberación: aportes teóricos y metodológicos para una nueva era

  Con este número de Vida y pensamiento, la UBL cierra un año de celebración y reflexión en ocasión del 100 aniversario de una labor educativa que se inició como Escuela de Formación Bíblica para Mujeres, posteriormente Instituto Bíblico Latinoamericano, Seminario Bíblico Latinoamericano y finalmente, Universidad Bíblica Latinoamericana. La vocación institucional como espacio de reflexión y formación bíblica no solo se ha mantenido, sino que se ha perfilado con un claro compromiso por una teología contextual desde las realidades de la región latinoamericana y caribeña y con una reflexión bíblica crítica que busca aportar a su transformación.

• Teología de la liberación: legado y desafíos para y desde el siglo XXI

  Desde diferentes perspectivas y experiencias, los artículos de este número se centran en la influencia que ha tenido la teología de la liberación en los procesos de transformación social y en la educación teológica superior. El legado sociopolítico y pastoral de la teología de la liberación es variado y muy complejo, pero sobresale su compromiso histórico de solidaridad activa con los grupos más desfavorecidos de la sociedad y la capacidad que tuvo para promover una disciplina teológica aterrizada en la realidad social. En este contexto, los aportes de este número reflejan los aciertos y desaciertos históricos de la teología de la liberación, así como los desafíos sociales, religiosos y académicos que enfrenta actualmente la educación teológica superior.

• Interdisciplinariedad, ritualidad, conflictividad: La actualización de la fe como tarea permanente

  Interdisciplinariedad, ritualidad, conflictividad. Estas tres palabras pueden resumir bien el eje temático que define los tres artículos incluidos en este número. Estos conceptos, diversos entre sí, tienen sin embargo un hilo conductor que los une, a saber: los esfuerzos que se hacen en las diversas ramas de la teología hoy por la adecuación a la circunstancia real, la contextualización de la Palabra y la búsqueda de la eficacia de la fe en un contexto en cambio permanente. 

• Tecnologías digitales: aportes y desafíos teológico-pastorales

  This issue of the journal Vida y Pensamiento addresses the subject of digital technologies, considering the theological and pastoral contributions and challenges that emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic made it clearer than ever that technological innovations modify our life patterns and ways of relating to each other, as well as our work, family, and ecclesial spaces. The changes that took place during the months of confinement and almost two years of social distancing were, in reality, an acceleration of what had already been taking place gradually for years. While acknowledging the positive contribution that technology has offered us and can offer, it is necessary to assess the social impact of these transformations, including aspects such as the digital divide, influence of the media, and social networks on the way we live, consume, believe, and perceive.

• Death: reality, metaphor and challenge

  In this issue of the journal Vida y Pensamiento, the theme of death as a reality, metaphor and challenge is addressed. Indeed, the context of the “Covid-19” pandemic has placed us in the face of death in an unforeseen and involuntary way, exposing the variety of its dimensions: affective, economic, medical, religious. The fear and uncertainty that the subject provokes is paradoxical, since it is in the face of death that life acquires its most precise contours. We are interested in life, and therefore we return to the subject of death as an inevitable pole of reference to clarify our understanding of life, its expressions and meaning.

• Hablar de Dios desde las crisis del siglo XXI

  This issue of the Journal Vida y Pensamiento addresses some current challenges for Latin American theology, both in the social, political and economic spheres, as well as in frontier issues related to ecology and gender. The destruction of nature, for example, evokes faith in a God who seeks to preserve the world. The experiences of femicides, wars and migration confront faith with a God who, on the contrary, promotes non-violence, mercy, gender equality and solidarity. The neoliberal economic system, which relies on a total market and widens the gap between rich and poor, contradicts faith in a God who, by his grace, bows equally to all people.

• Theological-pastoral reflections in times of pandemic

  We have decided to dedicate the second issue of this year's Life and Thought magazine to a reflection on the issue of the pandemic we are facing. The issue is relevant not only because of its great impact on all areas of social life (health, socio-economic, educational), but also because of its vital repercussions: grief, risk of own death, loss of fundamental security that sustains life. life (income, housing, family, status). All this raises vital questions for the person and the different social groups about themselves, their own and their environment.

• Practical theology in Latin America and the Caribbean: proposals, challenges

  This issue of the journal Vida y Pensamiento marks the beginning of a very special moment in the life of the Latin American Biblical University, as it is the preamble to the realization of a Practical Theology Consultation in Latin America and the Caribbean today, which will be held in the year 2021. The general objective of the consultation is to identify and reflect on the role of practical theology in Latin American theological education and its impact on Christian work in the face of current social, political, religious and cultural challenges. For that reason, this issue contains articles that are intended to provoke and open discussions that anticipate the meeting.

  This issue of the Journal Vida y Pensamiento presents a topic that for quite some time has gained relevance in the Christian sphere and in the theological reflection on prosperity.. This topic is addressed in the magazine by different people who, for many years and from their specific disciplines, have analyzed the so-called theology of prosperity, both from theological reflection, from biblical reading and pastoral action. The contributions of these specialists offer a diverse panorama of criticism of a popular theological current of our time. Our hope is that, with the contributions of this issue, we can contribute to an in-depth dialogue on an issue that we consider important.

• Decolonize the future: How to live in times of climate change?

  At present there is scientific consensus on the state of the situation, the fundamental causes and the seriousness of the current ecological situation on the planet, which even makes us wonder if we are on the verge of a collective catastrophe. This reality forces us to radically rethink our social organization and ways of thinking, including our theologies. From the biblical and theological reflection, this is an urgent task and, therefore, in this issue of Life and Thought, we examine some aspects of the ecological crisis and, at the same time, we try to propose some guidelines that help us find a way towards sustainable ways of life and social organization.

  Esta elección corresponde con una discusión que, con transformaciones significativas en su abordaje y énfasis través los años, constituye uno de los motivos básicos que ha impulsado y dado carácter a la revista. En el volumen 22, número 1, del primer semestre de 2002, nuestra publicación llevó por título Acusando la violencia: Enfoques bíblico - teológicos. Aquella edición no fue presentada como un monográfico de estudio sobre “la violencia”. Se trató de una intervención, un manifiesto de intensa textura, en la que sobresalía una posición férrea: la escritura, y sus depósitos, deben ser un movimiento que se enfrente a lo que nos hace daño, sobre todo cuando resiste ser asido.

Todas las contribuciones deben ser trabajos inéditos y enviados según las “Instrucciones para autores/autoras” que se detallan al final de la revista. El Comité Editorial y los árbitros que designe decidirán sobre la publicación de los trabajos presentados.
