Repensando la pastoral de la comunicación en la sociedad mediatizada
Abstract
This article explores the implications and challenges of rethinking communication practices and strategies from Christian communities in Latin America, given the mediatization of religion in the region. Included is a re-reading of the way the use and appropriation of media has been conceived and constructed by evangelical organizations and denominations as pertaining to evangelistic processes and mission initiatives. We contrast the project of proselytizing tele-evangelism of the 80s with contemporary processes of mediatization within evangelicalism. We conclude with suggestions for re-thinking a proposal for a communication pastoral from a Christian perspective that seeks to build a sense of community, inclusive practices and an affirmation of the common good in the context of a mediatized society.
