    Currently, the global political landscape is undergoing profound transformations, giving way to an increasingly multipolar world with diverse and complex repercussions for the local realities of all societies worldwide. This scenario is clearly reflected in the weakening of traditional hegemonies, the emergence of new centers of economic, political, and cultural power, and the intensification of geopolitical conflicts, all of which have reshaped international relations and the internal dynamics of states, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean. Given the importance of critically reflecting on the relationship between religion and politics in the current multipolar global context, the journal Vida y Pensamiento considers it pertinent to dedicate an issue to this topic from various perspectives within theological sciences.

    At the end of the 20th century, there was hope for the consolidation of some democratic processes in the world, especially in the Latin American and Caribbean context. This was reflected in different advances in issues related to socio-environmental justice, the consolidation of gender equality, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, and citizen participation in political decision-making and public management. However, the 21st century has shown us that the ideological instruments of the world's dominant power structures have found new strategies to promote regressive agendas.

    The current war situation between Palestine and Israel reflects a long-standing conflict, which escalated in October of last year.     Frente a los cambios en los hábitos tecnológicos que generó la pandemia Covid-19, las personas nos vimos obligadas a cambiar nuestras formas de relacionarnos y de construir redes sociales. Este aspecto que tuvo implicaciones sociales, pero también teológicas y pastorales, fue lo que nos motivó a promover esta temática en la reflexión bíblica, teológica y pastoral de la revista Vida y Pensamiento, la cual ponemos ahora en sus manos.

  • Vida y pensamiento: Convocatoria para el Vol. 42, Núm. 1 (2022)

    A casi dos años del inicio de la pandemia COVID-19 ha quedado más claro que nunca que las innovaciones tecnológicas modifican nuestros patrones de vida y relacionamiento, así como nuestros espacios laborales, familiares y hasta eclesiales. Los cambios que fueron promovidos por los meses de confinamiento y distanciamiento fueron en realidad un aceleramiento de lo que ya se ha venido dando en forma paulatina desde años. En este número de nuestra revista Vida y Pensamiento queremos reflexionar sobre el impacto de las tecnologías de la información, de la comunicación y de los medios en nuestras relaciones, nuestras culturas, nuestros patrones de comportamiento y la manera en la que nos expresamos, trabajamos, estudiamos, celebramos el culto y convivimos. No son cambios de forma simplemente ya que la forma modifica el fondo.

    Frente a la contribución positiva que nos han ofrecido y pueden ofrecer estas tecnologías, queremos valorar el impacto social de estas transformaciones, incluyendo aspectos como la brecha digital, la influencia de los medios y las redes sociales en la forma en la que vivimos, consumimos y nos percibimos. Queremos considerar su potencial movilizador (positivo y negativo), sus posibilidades de inclusión, como también de exclusión y alienación. Invitamos a la reflexión sobre estos temas y otros relacionados, en perspectiva bíblico-teológica y socio-pastoral, con el fin de aportar a la reflexión crítica sobre estos fenómenos.
