The relationships between the Bible and culture, the Bible and politics, the Bible and society were the central motivation to discuss, in detail, the role that religious discourse has in new forms of fundamentalism. The reduction of the meaning of the texts and their use for the purposes of controlling people and communities is something that, unfortunately, has always accompanied biblical interpretation.
